Crude Gold: The Case of Eco Oro

Crude Gold: The Case of Eco Oro

Directed by Monica Gutierrez ∙ 2015 ∙ Colombia ∙ 9'

Colombia's Santurban Páramo has become an example of a successful community struggle to protect water sources. Lawyers, community leaders and activists united to mobilize and demand the protection of natural resources threatened by Vancouver-based mining company Eco Oro Minerals Corp. A palpable urgency surrounds this story because of the fragility of the páramo—high-altitude wetlands, which supply fresh water to the vast regions around Bucaramanga.

CRUDE GOLD is a series of short documentary films showcasing 5 pivotal cases of foreign-funded mining exploitation connected to Canadian investors. Click here to rent and here to subscribe to also stream CRUDE GOLD: GRAN COLOMBIA GOLD.
